This original painting was inspired by a happy surprise found by the river where we walk our dog – Saylor.
California poppies are usually a spring flower but there, in the middle of August was a rebellious little grouping of poppies hiding in the shade of a huge oak tree.
Just when I was thinking about how sad I was to see the end of summer coming. This was a little reminder that it could always be summer inside my house with paintings of flowers covering my walls!
This is one in a series called “Winding Down” – designed to work together to create a gallery wall of summer flowers that work together, by themselves or, stunning in a group.
This was painted on a 24″ tall x 12″ wide 1″ deep canvas.
Acrylic on gesso canvas.
